"Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy is a method of relaxing muscle spasm, improving circulation and alleviating pain. To defuse "trigger points," pressure is applied to the muscle for several seconds by means of fingers, knuckles and elbows. The success of this method depends on the use of specific corrective exercise for the freed muscles. The method was developed by Bonnie Prudden in 1976."

About Bonnie Prudden - Creator of Myotherapy

Today's baby boomers with their running sneakers and aerobic classes, exercise machines and emphasis on health and well-being can trace their beginnings to Bonnie Prudden's determination to wake America up - to get it moving, walking, running, pushing up, sitting up, and lightening up.

Most of the world first heard of Bonnie Prudden 1955 when she personally met with President Eisenhower about the shocking physical state of America's youth. This meeting to present results of testing she'd administered to young people around the world became the basis for the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sport and marked the beginning of radical change in America's attitude towards physical fitness.

After countless books, a syndicated television show and the establishment of many well-known fitness programs for schools, hospitals, camps, factories and other establishments, Bonnie's work took a surprising turn. While checking a woman who'd been receiving Trigger Point Injection Therapy, she discovered that by applying external pressure to trigger points, she could relieve the woman's pain. After more intensive study, Bonnie Prudden introduced Myotherapy to the world.

In 1979 she launched the Bonnie Prudden two-year school of Physical Fitness and Myotherapy. In 1985, after streamlining her Myotherapy techniques and making her training system more efficient, she announced a 1400 hour program for students.

Graduates of the Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy and Corrective Exercise program work in hospitals, doctor's offices or maintain their own practices. Thousands of medical professionals have been convinced of the power of Myotherapy and now endorse it as a viable form of pain treatment.
